Buñuelos

This Buñuelos recipe is a popular recipe in Mexican cuisine. They are
very similar to doughnuts. Buñuelos are usually served with some type of sauce
so I chose chocolate. You could also try to make a fruity sauce or a traditional
sauce to go with these is syrup.

Recipe Ingredients
8oz Plain Flour
1/2tsp Salt
1tsp Baking Powder
2tbsp Vanilla Caster Sugar
1 Large Egg
4fl oz Milk
1oz Unsalted Butter
(Sugar for dusting)

Recipe Method
- Sift the flour, salt and baking powder into a bowl.
- Stir in the sugar.
- In a separate bowl whisk the egg and milk together.
- Gradually stir in the dry mixture.
- Beat in the melted butter and form a dough.
- On a floured board need the dough for 5 minutes until smooth and
elastic.
- Make 16 dough balls and slightly flatten.
- Use a wooden spoon handle dipped in flour to make holes in the middle.
- Put oil in a frying pan to a depth of 2 inches and
heat until a piece of bread will go brown in 30 seconds.
- Cook the Buñuelos in batches until puffy and golden
brown.
- Drain on kitchen paper and dust with sugar.
Ingredients (for sauce)
1/4pt Single Cream
6oz Plain Chocolate
Method (for sauce)
- Pour the cream into a saucepan.
- Break in the chocolate.
- Heat gently until all the chocolate is melted into the cream.
