Pizza Recipe

The recipe for pizza comes from Naples in Italy. Originally the pizza was folded
not round and flat. The Italians invented the traditional margherita pizza
(which was named after the queen) but other people invented different toppings
and so can you! Here is the basic method but be creative and make it your own.
When I made this dish I added an explosion of toppings, such as bacon, sweetcorn
tomato and much more.

Recipe Ingredients (for base)
1 tsp easy dried yeast
6 tbsp warm water
1/2 tsp sugar
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
6 oz white bread flour/strong plain flour
1 tsp salt
Recipe Method (for base)
- Add flour, salt and dried yeast.
- Mix it round.
- Add the water, oil and sugar in a separate jug and mix together.
- Add your water mixture to the flour mixture.
- Mix together to form a dough. (If the mixture is dry add more water).
- On a floured board, need the dough for 5 minutes until it is smooth and
elastic.
- Make it into a ball and place it in a greased bowl, covered over with a
tea towel.
- Put in a warm place to rise for approximately 1 hour.
- Knock back the dough and need again.
- Roll out the dough into any shape you want.
Ingredients (for sauce)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 onion (red onion for sweetness)
1 large garlic clove
1/4 tsp of sugar
Pinch of salt
1 tsp balsamic vinegar
1 tbsp tomato puree
5 fl oz passata
1/2 tsp dried basil
Black Pepper

Method (for sauce)
- Chop the onion.
- Crush the garlic.
- Warm the oil.
- Gently sweat off the garlic and onion until they go soft.
- Add the sugar, salt vinegar, passata, ground black pepper and the dried
basil.
- Bring to the boil.
- Simmer for 5 minutes and allow to cool.
Spread the sauce, cheese and any other toppings you want onto your
pizza dough and cook the pizza at 190˚C for
15-20 minutes.
